Are these decent cleats and do you wear socks under guards?

Hello. My name is Chelse. I'm a 15 year old freshmen. My two best friends and I are really dedicated and attend all the soccer conditionings. We haven't even done soccer tryouts yet or touched a ball. Apparently, we're supposed to buy soccer cleats and shin guards by Monday. We don't know the first thing about soccer.

What do you think about these cleats?

Keep in mind that I'm new to this and my mom doesn't have a lot of extra money for 0 cleats. Nike is a name I trust. When I ran in my Converse, I could hardly walk for three days. However, when I ran in my Nike Shox, I felt nothing the day after. Will these shoes give me the support I need? I've found that I get hurt more easily than others, it seems. I don't want to pull any muscles.

The weather has been aorund 30 degrees and we're going out to the field on Monday.

Also, it doesn't seem like shin guards really matter like cleats. Any price and style should work?

What exactly do you wear? Do you put those knee socks under your guards? I've heard that some people have to wear like two and three pairs of socks.

What do you suggest I wear in such good weather? I was thinking these capri type fleece pants and.. hm. Maybe a short sleeved shirt under a hoodie for when I get too hot.

Any help whatsoever for us clueless dorks would be great.

Chelse. :D

  1. 150$ boots are not for you rather buy ones that are in the 30-50 range…not to crappy it breaks yet still not cheap. i have been playing for a while (17) and believe me you do not need 150$ boots your skills will be fine as long as your boots are respectable, I myself have David Beckham(White predators).

You wear a shin gaurd depending on youre size I mean im only 5-8 and i wear small shin gaurds because they get in my way of dribbling if i were you id go with small… by the way with boots id get exactly your size cause they tend to get bigger I bought size 10 and they became 10.5 so yea. On top of shin gaurds you wear a type of sock i go with the polyester snug fit the thin ones that look like underarmour….hahahahhahah and no offense but your clothes are a bit odd….go with track shorts or buy actual shorts made for the game and a hoody..

BEFORE THIS THOUGH GET TO KNOW THE GAME IF YOU NEED SOMEONT TO TEACH YOU BASICS THEN MESSAGE ME.

  2. Hi Chelse :)
I’m also a freshman, however our soccer season at my school is already over.. very sad.. we were the best team in our league and undefeated!!!

$150 is too much for a pair of cleats. The REALLY good cleats that everyone seems to like (they’re special because they’re made of kangaroo leather- gross but incredibly soft), are the Copa Mundials by Adidas. However i own Nike Tiempos for women, about $60, and they work fine. Generally I’ve heard Adidas is good for wide feet and Nike is good for slim feet. Puma makes a cleat good for wide feet or people who have little to no arch also made of kangaroo leather.

Shin guards DO MATTER incredibly- but yes, any price/style should work, just make sure they fit- get a store associate to help you find a good-sized one for you. Some shinnies have built in ankle guards and go on by strapping it around your heel, sliding it up your leg and velcroing it the top, while others have a piece of plastic that you put on your leg, then slide a thin piece of stretchy cloth over(they’re sold together).

You wear your shin guards UNDER your socks- make sure they’re covered by your socks. Most everyone pulls the sock up as high as they go, then folds it over the knee.

People only wear 2-3 socks if their cleats are too big or something.

Sometimes I (and other people i’m sure) wear normal ankle socks under the shinguard and kneesock- i only do that when i have a bad blister and need to keep my bandaid on.

For that cold weather (lol in Cali we get like 70-80 degrees year long)
I suggest wearing your shorts and warm up pants over them. Warm up pants are these: http://www.soccer.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Ne=178&N=4294960226+580&Product_Id=217380
You wear your shorts, shinguards, socks etc underneath them and you can just take them off if you get too hot.

You can also wear a matching warm up jacket. I suggest wearing a longsleeve Underarmor under a t-shirt for your hot- it wicks away your sweat and keeps you warm or cool, whichever you need.

Feel free to email me with any questions- you can just do it from my profile :D

HAVE FUN!! ahh i miss my team so much!!!!

  3. Nike shoes are usually of great quality, but the ones you chose have laces on the sides, so it might be difficult to lace up. I would try them on first. Otherwise, I’m sure they would be great. Get a size or a size in a half smaller. I’m a size 9, but my cleats were 8′s.

Shin guards do matter if you mean as to whether or not you’re wearing them, but I’d imagine you mean the brand. The brand/price doesn’t matter. You probably need a medium or large, but I don’t have any idea what size your calves are, hehe. You can go to the store and take them out of the package to try them on. I would suggest shin guards with straps. I have ones that slip in with no straps and they fall out, and I hate wearing the things you are supposed to wear over them because it gets too hot.

As for what you wear, don’t look like you are too dressed up. I hate it when people do that. You aren’t supposed to look good to play soccer, haha. Just wear a tshirt and soccer shorts when its hot and a sweatshirt (with a tshirt underneath) and sweatpants (or shorts-I hate wearing sweatpants) when its cold.

You put your socks over your shin guards. You don’t need to wear more than one pair of socks-I don’t know why someone would. Before tryouts, I would suggest running a lot. Try doing suicides (where you run a short length, then run back to where you start, then run a longer length, then run back to the start. If you don’t get what I mean, try going on YouTube or googling it.), toe touches (where you tap the toe with one foot then the other. Again, if you aren’t sure, I’ll add a link as an example), pass back and forth with a friend, preferrably one who knows a little about soccer, and other soccer excercises.

There are a few pieces of advice I really want to give to you:
    1) First, don’t EVER duck from the ball. Even if it is coming straight to your head. I hate it when people scream/duck/cover their head and act as if a tornado is coming. Its just a ball. Its better to take one for the team.
    2) Don’t ever cry on the field. Nobody feels sorry for you at your age-people mostly just roll their eyes (except the parents, haha). People will feel more sympathetic for you if you don’t look pathetic, trust me. Its like a "war wound", per say, haha.
    3) If an experienced player gives you a piece of advice, take it seriously and try to work on it. Never roll your eyes. This is just rude. Even if they are rude to you, just try and be nice back. Be the bigger person, because trust me, they’ll just make nobody on the team like you.

    Good luck and have fun!

  4. Nikes are good or Adidas. You should put your shin guards UNDER your socks. Also, you do not need to wear more than one pair, your legs will get very hot if you do that. You should wear shorts instead of capris. You will be doing a lot of running. A sweatshirt is a good idea though. Good luck!

  6. This next bridal gown could be very unique in that this wedding robe is nearly two items consisting of a simple white strapless sheathe and an elegant sheer overlay almost the same as a robe. I really like how straightforward and varied this bridal dress is at the same time. The way the overlay is in addition helps to disguise any mid-section worries that you simply may be having. This marriage ceremony robe is priced at $239 and once more is able to be made in custom sizing.
