What kind of socks are the best for walking long distances without blisters?

I get blisters very easily in all my sneakers and I'm beginning to think it's the socks. What kind of socks should I wear to walk long distances without blisters? What fabric and thickness are best and where can I buy them? Thanks!

  1. Stay away from synthetic fibers. Look for a cotton sock instead. They'll be more comfortable and will wick moisture away from your feet, avoiding rubbing (and blisters, thusly). Some socks have a handy little feature with a reinforced ankle, where there is a little bit of extra thickness where many people experience rubbing on the backs of their ankles.

If in doubt, try asking someone at your local sporting goods store or a running shop.

    Happy walking!
